Then it's time to fire up your V6, V8 and V12 and head for Alsace via the Route des Crêtes, the Col de la Schlucht and Lac Blanc.
After many twists and turns and breathtaking panoramas, we pass through Kaysersberg, a magnificent, typical and authentic Alsatian village.
Then we'll stop off at Riquewihr, nicknamed the pearl of the Alsace vineyards and one of France's Top 10 most beautiful villages.
Riquewihr is a magnificent fortified medieval town with some very fine remains from the Middle Ages: the Dolder Tower, the village's emblem, and the 13th-century double rampart.
At around 12 noon, we'll set up in the Domaine DOPFF cellar, where you'll have the pleasure of tasting great Alsatian vintages accompanied by plates of charcuterie and local cheeses. Over the years , DOPFF has become one of the most important and, above all, one of the best Alsace Grand Cru appellations.
We'll be back on the road at around 2.30pm to reach the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg after a charming ½-hour drive.
Erected in the 12th century, Haut-Koenigsbourg castle has witnessed centuries of conflict and rivalry between lords, kings and emperors.
Dominating the Alsace plain at an altitude of 757 meters, Haut-Koenigsbourg has all the assets of a fortress: a strategic position that was relatively easy to defend in the past, and today an exceptional panorama of the Alsace plain, the Vosges, the Black Forest and sometimes even the Alps.
We'll be back on the road for another 1/2 hour to reach our destination around 5pm.
